I still don’t quite get Twitter, you know. The one most important thing I know  is that Twitter drives traffic. Everybody needs traffic. Traffic makes money. Most of us wants to be rich, or at least a little richer. All things added, I enrolled for the event.

The seminar was approx. $45 (don’t quite remember now). Reasonable price for a three hour event.  One is certain – this was the worst spent $45 in a long time. Unbelievable that people can deliver such low quality knowledge and still earn money from it.

The main speaker was Wayne Mansfield. According to some publications, he is a social media guru. Some call him a pioneer in internet marketing. For me, he is yet another guy who wants to earn money online by spamming everyone around.  I just tried to find some more information on him online and here is what Wikipedia says about him:

Wayne Mansfield, of Perth in Western Australia, was the head of direct marketing business T3 Direct Marketing, operating under a series of two-dollar companies, and in 2005 became the first Australian to be prosecuted for email spamming.

Probably I should have read it before I signed in, but I got all excited when I had read the information on the seminar in an email I received at work. It said that Wayne Mansfield is acknowledged as 4th most connected and active user of Twitter (number 1 is supposedly Fox News). He also has a network of more than 23 million people across Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.  Sounds great, right?

Well, it all looks differently when you take into account the number of people Wayne follows on Twitter – 74,863 (as at today). 73,315 follows him. Just a glance at this numbers tells you what simple technique Wayne incorporated to get these results. Each day, he follows hundreds of people potentially interested in his products and services . Some of them follow him back as a courtesy call. He ‘unfollows’ all the rest. Easy?

His first sentence during the event was something along these lines: “The training is scheduled to finish at 10pm, but I am planning to finish it at 9pm. I have a plane to catch at 4.30 am.”  Correct me if I am wrong, but if you pay for a three hour training, you expect a three hour training. Although I decided to leave during a coffee break at 7.30pm. Could not stand this crap any longer.

You will decide on your own whether this is something you would like to do. For me Wayne Manfield is yet another guy who makes using Twitter difficult for most of us by spamming us with useless comments.

Who would not like to work seven minutes a day? Well, there is a way of achieving it. FOREX is the buzzword here. Forex is all about currency exchange and currency exchange constitutes the biggest market in the world. By far. Very far. So we learned.

Some time ago we attended a seminar on forex. It was informative and great. But also damn expensive. We were tempted to join in, it really made sense and sounded unbelievable. There is money out there for you guys, and a seven minute workday is not a dream, but a very realistic option!

Since you are reading this post, you have probably heard the favourite sentence of all marketing gurus:

“Money is in the list”.

The first time we heard it (Me & Tib) was during a seminar on online marketing and to be frank, we did not quite understand it. Our tip – translate the word ‘list’ into a more traditional ‘data base’ and you will probably understand quicker if you are like us – from the traditional marketing school.

I wondered then why would a database be so important. I have studied the topic since and I came up with a simple analogy that clearly illustrates the need for a list, or data base.

Imagine now that you have a product to sell – say Swiss cheese (or eBook, or affiliate link, or other product more relevant to your field – it really doesn’t matter at this point). Let’s say that the Swiss cheese you offer is a premium quality product and all of your friends love it. Selling Swiss cheese to a group of friends can make a great business … if you have thousands of friends. But what if you only have a few? (don’t worry, we like you J). Your possibilities to sell the product are significantly diminished. Do you agree?

Purely for the case study purpose, imagine you had a thousand friends, maybe even two thousand, and you found an easy way to inform them all about your new product – Swiss Cheese. Thousands of potential customers instead of two?!  Wouldn’t that be great? Think about it. Even if say only one percent of your friends decide to come over and try your cheese, wouldn’t that be something to start with? Because of the friends database, you achieved 10-20 visitors coming over with an intention to buy cheese. Not to mention – you managed to get it all with no marketing budget, time consuming advertising campaigns and no time wasted.

You got 20 visitors just because you had an amazing database of friends. You managed to inform thousands of people of your new product within minutes. You may repeat this step as many times as you like –offering your products, services or knowledge to people who gave you their contact details.

This quick example shows clearly how important it is to build your own customer , or as we prefer, friends database. You simply have a chance to present your product or service to highly targeted group of potential customers at your fingertips. Building an extensive data  base, or list, may take some time (and it will), but it is an effort worth taking.

Once you started building your database, you need to think of another issue – how to contact your customers, or friends, in an easy, time efficient and cost effective way? This is almost as important as having a list. Because what  is the worth of the list if your customers simply don’t like you, don’t respect you and don’t buy your products? ZERO! You need to work on building a good relationship with your list. There are many techniques for that, but you may sum it up in two words: VALUABLE CONTENT.

You may ask: what is the best way to contact your list? Well, I would not recommend phone calls. Would you like people to call you at home? Home visits may not be such a good idea either (especially if you don’t quite like the feeling of the door smashing into your face). Sending an email would be an acceptable option for small lists. But emailing hundreds, or thousands of people may be a little time consuming. And this is where auto responders come in handy.

So what is auto responder?

An autoresponder is a computer program, web application, software tool or agent running on web servers, that automatically answers e-mails sent to you. Modern autoresponders offer multiple additional functions, such as sending newsletters, providing email authentication services and other  useful tools used to create and maintain a good relationship with your list.

Auto responders are not there only to answer emails sent to you. It is also a way to send newsletters, updates, freebies. It is basically like an auto pilot for your business. It limits the time you need to spend on your customer service to minimum. The art is – to create a system. The rest is history.

Anyways. It was back to the method. Notepad ready, a movie in a side window to deal with the waiting, some fruit to satisfy the stomach, I am  really well equipped for this.

And before I knew it the world has once again slowed down for me, the tunnel vision has activated, and I was fully focused on my journey to becoming rich. Well… I am not going to drag you in right now, with me, into that state, with the wheel spinning, with those incredible emotions and excitement, with the heart racing – in a strangely pleasant way, the outside sounds becoming distant…and the rest…Instead, I am going to tell you that on the second day, I was not as lucky as the first one. But I still won. Sticking to the method. I made approximately 30 Euro in an hour and a half, and that is more than I make at work, so I was quite pleased. But…something else happened…

However, before I tell you about it, I had previously omitted a little part I want to give you now. THE PAYMENT. It is nice to be winning some virtual cash online, very nice in fact, but we all have that desire to have the real stuff, that smelly paper, worn, touched by millions of people, yes, the real money. So I thought to myself, WAIT, what if this is a scam? What if I win but never see my money? After the first day of playing, one reason that I did not go right back into it, was that I needed to assure that I would be able to get my money – and so I asked for the withdrawal. I had to sign up for a clickandbuy.com account, although there were other options available, too: Bank transfer, back to the credit card, and then FREE money services: CLICKANDBUY.COM, MONEYBOOKERS.COM, NETELLER.COM, CLICK2PAY.COM, MONETA.RU. And I waited, and waited, and waited…and grew impatient…and waited…and I got it! They charged me 2.5 dollars for the transactions, but I was well in the plus, so I was quite happy. Phew! So, this really works!

So, what happened on the second day? Something so insignificant, yet…

I was playing and learning and getting the hang of the system, but, damn, I hate to admit it, I am quite a smart guy! And being smart is sometimes like a curse (Ignorance is bliss…well, maybe at least sometimes…). Since I never seem to be satisfied with doing stuff, I always have to know the principles, and the reasons behind things, I started engaging my brain cells in a constructive manner. At least I thought it was constructive.  So I reflected on the whole system and realized how it all works on the principle of maximizing probability of winning and minimizing the probability of losing. What is the chance of one column not showing for 7 times in a row? Very little! What about 8? Even less! Hmmm…..I wonder…I wonder….

As I was playing I noted something else. I would be (im)patiently waiting for my 7 no-shows, but that would sometimes take 5 to 10 minutes and I was keen on getting my money! HERE WE GO, DIDN’T I GET A MILLION WARNINGS NOT TO GET GREEDY? OH, I GUESS AFTER A MILLIONTH TIME YOU JUST GROW IMMUNE TO THESE.

Anyways. What I noted was that RED or BLACK colour could be subjected to a similar principle that our method uses! I saw RED colour not show up for five consecutive times. I had a look at previous games and noted that this was very rare! AND BEFORE I KNEW IT ONE OF MY CHIPS WAS LYING ON COLOUR RED! GUESS WHAT HAPPENED….You are right, I WON!!! Now I was happy, ecstatic, but in addition to that I was also proud! “Yeah, yeah, I am a smart guy!” I thought to myself. And the game dragged me deeper, and deeper, and deeper…

And that was my downfall. At least relatively because I was now playing with the money I had previously won. I started to bet on colours whenever one of them would not show up for five consecutive rounds and increase my bet if my colour wouldn`t show up similarly to the column system – and I would be winning fast and well! Plus I was still using the method for the columns and seven no-shows…

…But seven no-shows would slowly become six, then five, even four! And the five colour no-shows would become four! At one point I would even have chips on both, colour and column! And I would be winning more than before!

And that is how my experiment ended. I lost to my own greed. And perhaps that is how casinos make money no matter how good the method you use. If you cannot control the excitement, then this game is not for you. And I couldn’t! It dragged me in, and I hate to admit that I had had an amazing time! It was great, and guess what! I HAVEN`T LOST A SINGLE DOLLAR! I only lost the money I had won before. I simply grew impatient and started abusing the system I had previously sworn to – wait till seven no-shows, not four!!! I started playing with four no-shows and lost my winnings. I can`t believe I still did not pay attention to all those warnings not to get greedy!

Anti-climax instead of climax. But hey, I had an amazing time, so much fun, and learning, and have lost no money at all! And now I can be here telling YOU about it! Will you tell us about YOUR EXPERIENCE?

Whether you decide to try or not, I will leave up to you. But if you get emotional easily, perhaps this is not the way to go. Remember, gambling is addictive and every casino knows that. But some people have the immunity and with cold blood they are able to stick to the principles of probability and make money. How about you?

And many, many, maaaaany others alike. I read of a blogger who went on vacation and had thousands of these when he returned. Great!

Now. I really tried, and really hard. I refreshed my whole dusty long-forgotten knowledge of Russian language (don`t ask), but I got nowhere. It didn`t make much sense, and it all seemed irrelevant. We even tried responding to these, asking those writers to go to school and at least try to learn English…no success, their email addresses do not exist.

And so we learn it is yet another version of spam! Great, just what we wanted!

Anyways, the solution took us 17.54 seconds. Or around that (Here I am making fun of all those people who are trying to sell you something “amazing” that made them 31.345 dollars and 76 cents in three weeks – Can`t they just round up those numbers??? Veeeeery annoying…).

Just go to your Wordpress blog control panel and go to SETTINGS/DISCUSSION and enter “.ru” in the COMMENT BLACKLIST. This will block all comments that contain .ru in the website URL, IP address or email. JOB DONE!

We only hope this won`t block all our Russian friends!

It takes about three-four minutes till I get those seven “no shows”. It`s column three. I put a chip on it, shaking. The wheel starts to spin. The world slows down, I now have tunnel vision. I hear a distant voice and decide to ignore it (that was Mon with the dinner – I had to go buy fast-food later). The wheel is slowing down…I can`t take this anymore! It`s…..it`s….it`s….column………….two!!! And down the drain goes my 1 euro. Damn! No stopping now. Put 2 chips on column three. Here goes the wheel again….it`s spinning….with a noise that vibrates my whole body….row THREE!!!!!!!! I won, I won, I woooooon!!!!  Yeaaaaaah! Amazing amazing amazing!

All right, I can have a mental break now, because I need to wait for another seven no-shows. Oh what a ride what a ride!!! I`m loving it!

On the next sequence, I win straight away – the first bet! This is fantastic. I love probability!!!

On that evening, in an hour and a half, I doubled my investment! Dollar by dollar, or Euro to Euro, I slowly and patiently controlled my greed as instructed and  worked hard on doubling the money. And it worked. And what a ride it was indeed. On one occasion, it was almost over, when I came to betting 20 chips. But on that bet I finally got my column putting me right back into it! It was time to go to bed and what a sleepless night that was. I couldn`t wait till I get back to it! But the next day was going back to work (can you hear my teeth grinding?) and it would be four or five day before I have a chance to play again. But I thought GREAT, at least I won`t be addicted and have some time to calm down…

As we said before, we are joining the European roulette. Yet another warning from the author tells us that if we turn greedy, we could lose our money in a single game. Yeah, yeah, heard that one before…Here we go:

The roulette table has three columns. Just like your num-pad on the keyboard – three columns, one with numbers 7,4,1 one with 8,5,2, one with 9,6,3. Simple. I get it. We are going to be betting on these columns (the author calls them rows, I call them columns, depends on which way you look at the table, but the numbers are written in such way that I would call it columns, but then again…what do I know about European roulette? I know bits and pieces about Europe but there are no rows or columns there…as far as I know…). Just to clarify, column one has numbers 1,4,7,10,13,16 etc, increments of three. Column two is thus 2,5,8,11, etc. Column three, yes, you got it right, is 3,6,9 etc.

Here`s a question for the mathematically inclined: What is my chance of winning if I place a bet on row 1? No, it`s not one to two. No, it`s not one to four. YES! It`s one to three! And how much do we win if we win? Yes! Three times the amount! You are a genius. But where is that guarantee of win?!

Reading on, barely breathing now. This is awesome. The author says the we only need to be lucky once every seventeen turns and we still win! Bring it on!!!

Here`s the basics: We are noting down the sequence of numbers that have come up – the numbers of the columns. For example, it was row 1, then 2, then 1 again, then 3, then 3, then 3, then 1, then 2. I open the notepad in windows to do this while I`m playing, otherwise Mon might catch me gambling and that won`t be nice…another sleepless night on the sofa…

What we are looking for is this: WAIT TILL ONE OF THE COLUMNS HAS NOT COME UP FOR SEVEN CONSECUTIVE TURNS.

Problems I encountered: Well, to start with, if I don`t bet for two consecutive rounds, it says I cannot stay at the table (…but I just want to watch….nope….not allowed!). But hey, one click and I`m right back! No bouncers at this ONLINE casino! Haha, I can handle a virtual bouncer! I would punch the monitor like crazy till he gives up! And what will he do? Open my CD mechanics in an attempt to hit me?

Problem number two: this takes a lot of patience, and a feeling of sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting….oh! The thing is, every turn takes one minute. So, you know, you get those six in a row and get all excited and then BANG, gone! Starting all over again! But I open a little window with a movie on the side and now I`m enjoying myself.

So we haven`t bet anything – until one column does not come up for seven consecutive spins. NOW IS THE TIME! Bet on it! On the one that hasn`t come up for so long! The author tells us the odds of not coming up for 8 spins are 1:25 and without checking mathematically (oh please…), it sort of feels right to me. And again, a warning, do not get greedy! Wait for the SEVEN!!!

HERE IS THE CORE OF IT: How much do we bet? 1 chip. 1 euro it is. If we lose, we bet 2 on the same row, if we lose we bet 3, then 4, 6, 9, 13, 20, 30, 45, and 67. These numbers are crucial. NOW LET’S THINK ABOUT IT: IF WE WERE TO LOSE AND IF THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK, THE COLUMN THAT WE KEEP BETTING ON WOULD HAVE TO KEEP NOT SHOWING UP FOR 18 TIMES!!! I don`t know what kind of mathematical probability there is of that, but it seems damn high to me, and my pulse is now in two hundreds . I`m in!

Example: Column that hasn`t shown up for seven turns is column number three. So we bet on it in the eighth turn. If we win, we win 3 euro, if we don`t, we bet 2 chips on the same column. If we win, we win 6 euro, if we lose, we bet 3 chips. If we win, we win 9 euro, if we lose, we bet 4 euro etc. The above numbers are very important, so I write down the amounts to bet: 1,2,3,4,6,9,13,20,30,45,67.

If you ever get to the end of the sequence without winning, the probability of which, according to the author is 1:2048 (1 to 2048!!! Can this method really fail???), start over again from 1 chip.

The author says he has been playing for two hours about six times a week for a year and always makes money. What a tease! I am not a gambler but if I have a guaranteed income for two hours a day…..let me in!

WOW. Now we have the method, and it really really looks like it cannot fail So how did I go?
